About The Position

The Bass department seeks a front desk office assistant bass student employee to perform reception and light administrative duties at the Bass department office in 1140 Boylston Street. This is a front-facing/customer service position that mainly involves helping visitors but will also include assisting faculty/chair/visiting artists with any issues that may arise including office technology (printer/copier, Zoom, Gmail, etc.), and Answering the phone lines. Occasional moving of equipment. Students will be scheduled between 8 and 10 hours a week, Monday-Friday between the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Responsible, punctual, and willing to help visitors and faculty
  • Must have experience with the cuticulum of the Bass dept.
  • Able to explain credits, prerequisites, and courses to students
  • Must be able to maintain printer/copier (replace paper, replace ink, fix paper jams) or be willing to learn
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable using Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs (office supplies and paper)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing posters/flyers (graphic design) or video editing is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for greeting and directing students/visitors and handling basic questions
  • Answer department telephone calls and emails professionally
  • Must direct office visitor traffic to appropriate faculty or chair and operate door buzzer system
  • Help maintain Bass Dept social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube)
  • Troubleshoot printer issues and replenish paper and ink
  • Willing to help faculty with any office issues that may arise
