About The Position

Tamwood Elite Basketball Camp is an advanced training program designed for intermediate to advanced players (ages 15–17) who want to refine their skills, elevate their game, and gain a competitive edge. In addition to high-performance basketball training, the camp integrates cultural experiences and leadership development in a dynamic and supportive environment. We are looking for experienced basketball Coach with a passion for player development, strong tactical knowledge, and the ability to work with high-level youth athletes in an intensive training environment.

Requirements

• Playing Experience: Former competitive player at the university, semi-professional, or professional level preferred.
• Coaching Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of coaching experience at a high school, club, academy, or college level.
• First Aid & CPR Certification: Ensures player safety during training and games.
• Passionate about working with and engaging young children is a must.
• Eligible to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

• Basketball Coaching Certification: NCCP (Canada), USA Basketball Gold License, FIBA Certification, or equivalent national/international accreditation.
• Previous coaching experience with youth players.
• Understanding of offensive/defensive strategies and game planning.
• Ability to mentor, motivate, and instruct players effectively.
• Background in sports science, athletic training, or injury prevention is a plus.
• Comfortable working with international players and adapting to different playing styles.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-performance training sessions focused on advanced basketball skills, including shooting, ball-handling, defense, and game strategy.
• Develop and execute structured practice plans that align with the camp’s progressive training model.
• Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to support their growth and enhance their performance.
• Coach competitive scrimmages and provide real-time adjustments and strategies.
• Work collaboratively with assistant coaches and camp staff to ensure a seamless and engaging camp experience.
• Educate players about the rules of basketball, sportsmanship, and emphasize the value of a positive mindset.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of campers during training sessions and scrimmages.
• Assist in the optional evening sessions (film study, workshops, strength & conditioning) for players who want additional development.
• Engage with international campers, fostering an inclusive and motivating environment.
