About The Position

Wiz Kids Camps are seasonal youth sports camps that offer athletic and academic enrichment to participants. The Baseball Head Coach is responsible for teaching fundamental skills as well as more advanced routines. The Baseball Head Coach oversees a team that guides campers through the day-to-day activities during this activity segment. This role involves developing and leading daily activity-specific drills and training components, overseeing participant development culminating in team competitions, and ensuring the welfare of campers. The coach will also communicate clearly and consistently with camp leadership staff for the positive resolution of camper-related issues and assist with additional camp operations.

Requirements

  • Prior coaching experience in baseball at the elementary or high school level.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with campers, staff, and leadership.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise groups of children in an active camp environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for all campers.
  • Experience developing or facilitating age-appropriate drills, practices, games, or recreational activities.
  • Experience working with children of varying ages, abilities, and skill levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Coaching certification in the sport of baseball or an advanced degree in Sports Administration is highly preferred.
  • Previous summer camp, youth development, education, recreation, or childcare experience.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, or other applicable safety certification.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching fundamental skills as well as more advanced routines.
  • Overseeing a team that guides campers through the day-to-day activities during this activity segment.
  • Develop and lead daily activity specific drills and training components.
  • Oversees participant development culminating in team competitions.
  • Ensure the welfare of campers and positive resolution of camper-related issues by communicating clearly and consistently with camp leadership staff.
  • Assist with additional camp operations including Camper check in and out, camper lunch, front desk, etc.
  • Willingness to comply with Suspected Child Abuse Reporting (Subsection (a)(6) of 325 ILCS 5-4).
