About The Position

Assist in the upkeep and maintenance of the outdoor areas for which the base operations department is responsible. Operate the tools and equipment of the department in a safe, efficient and effective manner in order to complete all assignments and duties.

Requirements

  • Required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, finger, and feel or operate objects, tools and controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and smell.
  • Ability to lift/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Vision requirements include 20/20 eyesight or correctable to near 20/20.
  • Must have a valid US Driver’s license
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily labor, as directed, for village and base area maintenance to include: removal of loose trash, emptying of assigned trash cans, removal of excess dirt and sand, sweeping, graffiti removal, etc.
  • Provide courteous, accurate, and reliable information to the guest regarding; weather and ski reports, special events and activities, information and location for the following services: Lift ticket offices and pricing structure, Trail maps, Ski rental shops, Retail shops, Restaurants, coffee shops and cafeterias, Lodging facilities and condominiums, Day lodges, Ski school registration.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Copper Mountain Village to include: Fire access routes, Building and lift names and locations, Ski rack locations and set-up, Trash can locations, Ski trail names and locations.
  • Maintain, as directed, all permanent and temporary signs located in the village to include: proper attachment, adequate spacing, proper alignment.
  • Maintain, as directed, all walkways and sidewalks to ensure neat appearance and safe access to our guests including but not limited to: the removal of snow by machine or by hand, marking of temporary obstacles, removal of hazards, sweeping, ice removal, traction control and ensuring adequate drainage.
  • Maintain, as directed, village ski racks to include: removal of unwanted stickers, bumping of racks to prevent freezing to the ground, snow removal, and repair or replacement of broken or missing parts.
  • Maintain, as directed, village fixtures including but not limited to: trash cans, tie walls, sewers, drains and culverts, display vehicles, benches, drain covers and grates, and light posts.
  • Removal by hand or machine of snow and snow piles from all common areas.
  • With direction, appropriately marking of all hazards and obstacles to ensure the safety of all Copper Mountain residents, guests, and employees. Also marking of any fixture or accessory to ensure no damage from traffic or plowing operations.
  • Develop and maintain proficient and efficient skills in the use of departmental tools and light equipment to include: all general maintenance/construction power and hand tools, skid steer, tamper, sweeper, etc.
  • Provide labor as requested for general construction and maintenance projects.
  • Provide labor and special assistance to on mountain and base area special events to include event set-up, support and tear down activities.
  • Maintain all equipment, vehicles and tools and report all repair/replacement needs to the foreman and/or the Vehicle Maintenance Department.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices of work areas, locker facilities, work sites, and company vehicles.
  • Assist the parking and traffic control crews in assisting and directing guests on high volume days and whenever needed.
  • Assist and perform assigned labor duties in order to support all Mountain Operations departments, and any other departments requiring assistance.
  • Assist in the delivery of equipment and supplies needed for normal operations including appropriate record keeping and cost tracking.
  • Ability to operate village tow truck in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Provide the guest with free jump -start service and assist the guest in an effective and efficient manner in order to make their experience at Copper Mountain a pleasant one (even with a dead battery at the end of the day!).
  • Perform light maintenance and repairs on the village tow truck, tools and other department vehicles and report such needs to the Foreman and / or the Vehicle Maintenance Department.
  • Remove abandoned vehicles from parking lots to assist the parking crew in obtaining a smooth, hassle free parking operation for the guest and employee.
  • Perform all necessary record keeping, as directed, in order to keep an accurate log of all vehicles towed including: date, location, identification, problems, comments, reason, and new location.
  • Develop skills as a loader operator in order to assist with snow and snow pack removal, summer projects, implement changes, sanding, and equipment relocation.
  • Learn maintenance procedures and record keeping for loader chains and cutting edges on implements.
  • Develop skills and complete training in order to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Perform all necessary paperwork in order to assist the supervisor in tracking labor hours especially hours completed on billable projects.
  • Maintain reliable work attendance record.
  • Assist with training of new crew members.
  • Functions as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling and sharing the Copper “culture” with our guests and employees.
