About The Position

Amentum is looking for a BAS Operator/Controls Technician to join our team in Springfield, VA to support our mission critical customer. This role involves the maintenance and repair of building controls and automation systems. The technician will diagnose control system concerns, ensure occupancy comfort, troubleshoot local controllers, communication wiring, programs, and schedules. Key responsibilities include ensuring correct set-points, schedules, and sequences of operation, performing preventative maintenance like point-to-point check-outs, sensor calibration, and software back-ups. The role also focuses on energy management and interacting with building occupants to identify energy conservation opportunities related to HVAC systems.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in building controls and automation.
  • Certification as a building automation system operator (Siemens APOGEE; BACnet; or undefined MD Stationary Engineer license level 1 or DC Stationary Engineer license level 3 undefined).
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) as well as knowledge using undefined.
  • Ability to use control technician hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance and repair of building controls and automation systems.
  • Diagnoses control system concerns and ensures occupancy comfort.
  • Troubleshoots local controllers, communication wiring, programs, and schedules.
  • Ensures proper set-points, schedules, and sequences of operation are correctly programmed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks such as point to point check-out, sensor calibration, and software back-up.
  • Works to ensure overall occupancy comfort is achieved while keeping focused on energy management.
  • Interacts with building occupants in person as well as over the phone.
  • Recognizes and identifies opportunities to conserve building energy as it relates to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
