About The Position

The Bartender is responsible for serving beverages and/or food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, ensuring guest satisfaction. This role also involves preparing beverages for other servers and maintaining the bar area.

Requirements

  • Must be 19 years of age or older to serve alcohol.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service levels for a high-volume restaurant.
  • High level of knowledge for spirits and beer, including trendy liquors, creating new drinks, and understanding wine.
  • Ability to change keg beer (lifting up to 100 lbs).
  • Ability to carry multiple drinks at once.
  • Basic mathematical skills for cash register operation, making change, totaling checks, counting bank, preparing cash drops, and understanding portion sizes.
  • Basic English language writing skills for completing requisitions, balance sheets, and vouchers.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to use a knife for garnishes, handle glassware and bottles, use a corkscrew, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead for stock.
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language to communicate with guests and take orders.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu items.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and perform point-of-sale procedures.
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods.
  • 1-2 years of bartending experience required.
  • Ability to obtain any government-required license or certificate.
  • Bartending certificate required.
  • TIPS or similar certification required.
  • Required memorization of all table numbers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar daily, including stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce.
  • Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables.
  • Greet guests courteously and friendly, promote and document drink orders, and mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard recipes.
  • Input orders into a point-of-sale register, create checks for guests, and maintain accountability for all beverages served.
  • Maintain glassware inventory and ensure cleanliness.
  • Maintain the condition and cleanliness of the bar and guest areas.
  • Assist and provide service to guests sitting at the bar.
  • Assist with table service if needed.
  • Receive cash from guests, make change, verify charges, record charges, and ensure vouchers are properly executed.
  • Maintain the service bar for servers.
  • Lock up and store beverages, food, and equipment, deposit cash drops, and secure the bank.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products as assigned.
  • Adhere to all State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations regarding the service of alcohol.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested, such as special guest requests or assisting security.
