About The Position

This role is responsible for utilizing creative flair and passion for beverages while leading a team to provide exceptional guest experiences. Through leadership and innovation, the bartender will create and execute new drinks and menus that demonstrate the high quality of Seagar’s. The bartender will also greet guests, promote and document orders, mix and present drinks, input orders into the point of sale system, and ensure proper bar setup and stocking. Additionally, the role involves handling cash transactions, securing the bank, saving empty bottles, maintaining an organized workspace, creating cocktail menus, and increasing the quality of bar service by leading staff and ensuring standards are met. The bartender must maintain the same level of fine-dining service standards as the dining room, ensuring every guest enjoys the “Seagar’s experience.” Supportive functions include general cleaning, performing other duties as requested, and adhering to liquor regulations.

Requirements

  • Bartending experience required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
  • Understanding of the trend in cocktail recipes and spirits, along with an understanding of what liquors can be mixed.
  • Knowledge of seasonal ingredients and how to use them to create a high-quality seasonal menu.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes.
  • Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets, and vouchers.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to operate beverage equipment such as blenders.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and point-of-sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
  • Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Promotes and documents orders for drinks.
  • Mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
  • Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest.
  • Ensures those served by other beverage servers are rung up by issuing drinks only per order receipt, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
  • Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis, including requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce.
  • Receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and ensures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all moneys.
  • Locks up and stores all beverages, food, and other equipment items, deposits cash drops, and secures bank.
  • Saves empty bottles for returns & requisitions.
  • Maintains an impeccably organized bar and workspace.
  • Creates industry leading cocktail menus while balancing innovation with speed and efficiency.
  • Maintains stock.
  • Cuts and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
  • Increases the quality of the bar service by leading the staff and ensuring we are utilizing and executing all standards to our fullest.
  • Maintains the same level of fine-dining service standards as the dining room, ensuring every guest enjoys the “Seagar’s experience.”
  • Performs general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products, as assigned by your supervisor, to adhere to health standards.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested, including special guest requests and support of other Food and Beverage Outlets.
  • Adheres to all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to ensure all laws are being followed.
  • Assists security with disorderly guests.
