About The Position

Oak & Ivy is an American craft whiskey cocktail bar dedicated to classic mixology, unique handcrafted drinks, and the use of high-quality, fresh, seasonal ingredients. We specialize in homemade garnishes and mixers, a curated selection of rare beers and spirits, and a signature lineup of barrel-aged cocktails. Every drink we create is crafted with care—delivering a story-worthy sip, every time. The Bartender at Oak & Ivy is responsible for preparing and serving a wide range of beverages, including cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks while providing exceptional customer service. Ideal candidates will bring a strong craft cocktail specialty to the team to help elevate our beverage program.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills (effective in English, both verbal and written).
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, leadership, and collaboration skills, specifically in directing and working alongside Barbacks.
  • Exceptional cash handling skills and working knowledge of POS systems.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Obtain and maintain SNHD Health Card, Alcohol Awareness Card, and Sheriff’s Card.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) or more years of previous bartending, cash handling, and customer service experience in a hospitality or craft cocktail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a wide range of beverages, utilizing your craft cocktail specialty to execute complex recipes with precision and speed.
  • Accurately enter all orders into the POS system, follow proper cash/card payment procedures, and complete all end-of-shift financial duties.
  • Develop, create, and teach new cocktails and menu items to the rest of the staff.
  • Maintain and track inventory of products, glassware, bar supplies, and disposables.
  • Assist by checking in all orders relating to the bar and keeping track of invoices.
  • Work in assigned shifts according to department needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Barback team to retrieve glassware by bussing tables and the patio in a timely manner.
  • Execute daily upkeep and routine deep cleaning to ensure the bar environment strictly adheres to DTP and health department standards.
  • Promptly report any maintenance problems or safety hazards to Management.
  • Welcome guests and provide professional, exceptional service by anticipating their needs and ensuring absolute guest satisfaction.
  • Answer basic property and DTLV questions and provide thoughtful recommendations to guests.
  • Actively support DTP events as scheduled.
  • Adhere to an on-brand dress code, ensuring a polished appearance and positively represent the Oak & Ivy brand and logo.
  • Collaborate, participate, and remain open-minded to social media marketing initiatives.
  • Independently manage guests who appear intoxicated, including responsibly refusing service and de-escalating situations.
  • Rigorously check IDs and monitor the venue to ensure no guests under 21 are served or present in restricted areas.
  • Strictly adhere to all OSHA regulations and internal DTP safety protocols to maintain a secure environment for guests and team members.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the employee’s department.
  • Attend required training sessions offered by DTP.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages.
  • Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of Management.
