About The Position

Prepares various beverages for a full-service restaurant/bar and provides service to dining guests with a passion for elevating the guest service experience. This role involves greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages, adhering to beverage standards, and maintaining knowledge of all menu offerings. The bartender is also responsible for suggestive selling, understanding safe alcohol service practices, anticipating guest needs, and personalizing the guest experience. Daily tasks include pre-shift preparation, completing side work and closing duties, operating efficiently during peak times, cleaning work areas, processing payments, reconciling cash and credit card transactions, and participating in staff meetings and training. The position also requires practicing cleanliness and safety, assisting team members, understanding food allergies, and adhering to all safety and security procedures.

Requirements

  • 1+ Year bartending experience at a full-service bar.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Expresses a positive attitude and sincere enthusiasm for the role.
  • Must know how to prioritize and respond in a timely fashion.
  • Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while remaining hospitable to guests at all times.
  • Understanding of restaurant operations; food and beverage knowledge, steps of service, and cash management as it pertains to the selling of food and beverages.
  • Ability to remain standing for up to 8 hours (100% of shift).
  • Ability to remain in a standing or walking position for 90% of shift, given moderate rest breaks.
  • Ability to regularly move and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift items overhead.
  • Ability to bend and reach frequently and repetitively during a shift.
  • Ability to visibly survey property areas clearly.
  • Ability to move up and down stairs.
  • Ability to use repetitive manual dexterity.
  • Ability to move quickly based on guest needs.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information effectively, often in a public forum.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Able/willing to work flexible hours based on business needs including both weekdays and weekends.
  • Ability to furnish ME Liquor affidavit for state liquor requirements.
  • Ability to furnish safe alcohol service training certificate requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, direct, seat, and take food and beverage orders.
  • Serve guests in accordance with company standards.
  • Adhere to all beverage pour and recipe standards.
  • Communicate inventory needs to the appropriate manager.
  • Be knowledgeable of all food, wine, beer, alcohol, and specialty cocktails offered.
  • Make wine pairing suggestions.
  • Use suggestive selling methods to drive revenue growth.
  • Understand and communicate daily specials and specialty menus to guests.
  • Understand and practice safe serving practices, including recognizing intoxication and refusing service when necessary.
  • Consult with the Restaurant Manager when support is needed.
  • Be perceptive, proactive, and engaging; anticipate guest needs and personalize the guest experience.
  • Complete pre-shift preparation such as preparing and stocking garnishes, pre-mix, and ice.
  • Complete side work and closing tasks as required, such as cleaning, sanitation of ice bins, and restocking.
  • Operate efficiently and calmly during peak service times and high-stress situations.
  • Seek assistance from leadership when needed to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Clean and maintain all working areas and equipment.
  • Prepare and present the final bill to the guest for payment.
  • Obtain settlement and process payments using the POS system.
  • Reconcile cash, accurately charge credit cards, and make appropriate cash deposits at the end of the shift.
  • Check out with the manager once the shift is complete.
  • Practice cleanliness and safety in all dining areas, liquor and wine storage areas.
  • Participate in daily staff meetings and department training meetings.
  • Assist team members as needed to promote a positive teamwork environment.
  • Practice conscious knowledge of food allergies and safety.
  • Understand and practice all safety and security procedures, including Evacuation Procedures, Accident Reporting, Right to Know Law, Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures, Anti-Harassment, and Anti-Violence Policies.
  • Escalate associate concerns to the Restaurant Manager.
