About The Position

The Islands of Islamorada is seeking a bartender to join their team of experienced hospitality professionals. This role involves greeting, directing, seating, and taking food and beverage orders, serving guests in accordance with company standards, and adhering to all beverage pour and recipe standards. The bartender will communicate inventory needs, be knowledgeable of all food, wine, beer, alcohol, and specialty cocktails, and possess conscious wine knowledge with the ability to make pairing suggestions. They will utilize suggestive selling methods to drive revenue growth, communicate daily specials and specialty menus, and practice safe serving practices, including recognizing intoxication and refusing service. The position requires being perceptive, proactive, and engaging, anticipating guest needs, and personalizing the guest experience. Responsibilities also include completing pre-shift preparation like stocking garnishes, pre-mix, and ice, creating syrups and infusions, and completing side work and closing tasks such as cleaning, sanitation, and restocking. Additional duties include opening and closing beer taps, polishing glassware, recording breakage, removing trash, restocking service stations, making coffee, tea, and espressos, preparing and presenting bills, processing payments, and checking out with a manager. The role emphasizes practicing cleanliness and safety in all dining and storage areas, assisting team members, and attending required meetings and training sessions. Compliance with all company policies, including time and attendance, uniform standards, anti-harassment, and substance-free workplace policies, is mandatory.

Requirements

  • 1+ year professional bartending experience at a full service bar.
  • High School diploma/GED
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong beverage knowledge with understanding of cocktail recipes and basic wine and beer familiarity.
  • Able to complete a satisfactory background check
  • Available and willing to work flexible hours based on business needs including weekdays and weekends.
  • Must know how to prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion.
  • Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.
  • Ability to remain standing for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to lift items overhead.
  • Ability to bend and reach frequently and repetitively during a shift.
  • Ability to remain in a standing or walking position for 90% of shift, given moderate rest breaks.
  • Ability to move up and down stairs
  • Ability to move quickly based on guest needs
  • Ability to regularly move and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use repetitive manual dexterity, such as typing, polishing, using hand tools, and fixing small items

Responsibilities

  • Properly open and close beer taps.
  • Polish glassware, record any breakage.
  • Remove trash.
  • Restock service stations and service bar areas.
  • Make coffee, tea, and espressos.
  • Prepare and present final bill to guest for payment.
  • Obtain settlement and process using the POS system with adjusted tip if noted.
  • Check out with manager once shift is complete.
  • Practice cleanliness and safety in all dining areas, liquor and wine storage areas.
  • Assist team members as needed to promote a positive teamwork environment.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued.
