Position Summary: We maintain high expectations for our bartenders. Traditionally, they are the most knowledgeable and seasoned employees in the Front of House. Blue Plate also knows that many bartenders have an ego, an attitude, a je ne sais quoi. The best ones usually do. We want you to want to be the best. Take that edge and turn it into a great experience for the guest. Pay attention to the little things – your guests will appreciate it whether they realize it or not. Keep your body language open. Requirements

High school diploma and/or GED equivalent.
Exceptional interpersonal communications skills.
Strong organization skills.
A high level of ability to multi-task.
Passion for the business.
Ability to develop and maintain strong and regular customer relationships.
Ability to provide work direction and an appropriate level of supervision for the Barback position, (if applicable).
Must have reliable transportation.
Ability to pass all required pre-employment background checks.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables.
Able to interpret various instructions.
Mathematics Ability: Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
Language Ability: Ability to read a variety of books, magazines and instruction manuals.
Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis; correct punctuation and variation in word order, using present, perfect, and future tenses.
Ability to speak, read and write fluent English.

Nice To Haves

One to three years of bartending experience.
Knowledge of a second language would be a plus.

Responsibilities

Prepare alcohol and non-alcohol beverages.
Interact with customers, take orders and serve snacks and drinks.
Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations.
Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails.
Plan and present bar menu.
Check customers’ identification and confirm that it meets legal drinking age.
Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience.
Provide work direction and supervision for the Barback position, (if applicable).
Participate in and satisfactorily complete all required training for the applicable position.
Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with coworkers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, customers, vendors and visitors; respect of others’ property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors and subordinates.
