About The Position

The purpose of this position is to mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. The Bartender prepares a variety of alcoholic drinks by selecting the proper premix and garnish, requiring a working knowledge of various mixed drinks. They serve patrons directly or deliver to wait staff, receive payment, operate the cash register, and make change. The role may involve preparing documentation for cash funds accountability. Additionally, the Bartender is responsible for setting up the bar for operation, ensuring it is presentable and sanitary, maintaining adequate stock levels, and keeping the work area neat and clean. This includes washing bar equipment, glassware, and utensils following proper sanitation procedures, stocking service bars, and assisting higher-level bartenders as required. The position also requires completing required training in the serving of alcohol beverages, identifying and resolving issues with unruly or intoxicated patrons, and adhering to safety regulations and standards.

Requirements

Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale. Completion of a bartender’s training school may be substituted for the required experience.
Experience recognizing intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolving the problem or seeking assistance.
Experience following proper cash handling procedures.
Must be able to stoop, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 10 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to and over 40 pounds.
Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages.

Responsibilities

Set up bar for operation, ensuring it is presentable and sanitary.
Assure an adequate stock level is maintained.
Set up storeroom and work area to permit easy access to stock items.
Maintain work area neat and clean.
Wash bar equipment, glassware, and utensils following proper sanitation procedures.
Stock services bars and assist higher level bartender as required.
Complete required training in the serving of alcohol beverages.
Identify persons who become unruly or who appear intoxicated, resolve the problem, or seek assistance.
Adhere to safety regulations and standards.
Use required safety equipment, and observe safe work procedures.
Promptly report any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage.
Perform other duties as assigned.
