The purpose of this position is to mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. The Bartender prepares a variety of alcoholic drinks by selecting the proper premix and garnish, requiring a working knowledge of various mixed drinks. They serve patrons directly or deliver to wait staff, receive payment, operate the cash register, and make change. The role may involve preparing documentation for cash funds accountability. Additionally, the Bartender is responsible for setting up the bar for operation, ensuring it is presentable and sanitary, maintaining adequate stock levels, and keeping the work area neat and clean. This includes washing bar equipment, glassware, and utensils following proper sanitation procedures, stocking service bars, and assisting higher-level bartenders as required. The position also requires completing required training in the serving of alcohol beverages, identifying and resolving issues with unruly or intoxicated patrons, and adhering to safety regulations and standards.
