Bartender, The Barns (Variable, up to 20 hours per week, early October 2026 - May 2027)
About The Position
The Barns is seeking a Bartender for a variable position, working up to 20 hours per week, from early October 2026 to May 2027. This role is 100% on-site at Wolf Trap Headquarters in Vienna, VA. The Bartender will be responsible for nightly setup and cleanup of the bar, operating the POS system, assisting patrons, preparing and serving drinks, restocking, and providing fast and friendly customer service. The position also involves assisting with dining room cleanup, bar turnover for special events, and participating in inventory counts. Adherence to Fairfax County Health Department standards, sanitation practices, and safe food handling is crucial.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to work weeknights and weekends
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work quickly and independently
- Must successfully complete a Virginia Alcohol Server Training, ServSafe Training or company approved equivalent course within 30 days of start date
- Must be physically located in and have a local address in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia for the duration of employment.
Responsibilities
- Nightly setup of the bar including bar stations, preparing fruit/garnishes, filling ice bins, setup of glassware, etc.
- Nightly cleanup of the bar including wiping down and sanitizing all bar surfaces, washing bar utensils and small wares, sweeping, mopping, taking out trash, etc.
- Ensure all leftover items are properly wrapped, stored, or discarded
- POS operation including taking orders and handling payments
- Assist patrons with QR codes and QR code ordering
- Prepare and serve drinks
- Nightly restocking
- Wrap and reset silverware
- Assist with cleaning/resetting the dining room as needed
- Turnover of the bar as needed to set up for special events
- Always provide fast and friendly customer service to guests and coworkers
- Report any customer service complaints or issues to the Manager on Duty
- Assist with opening, closing, and monthly inventory counts as assigned
- Follow all Fairfax County Health Department standards.
- Maintain the highest level of sanitation practices, safe food handling and storage
