About The Position

This position is for an Intermittent Bartender (NA-7405-05) at the MWR Yorktown Club Bar in Yorktown, VA. The role involves preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, maintaining the bar's cleanliness and stock, handling receipts and inventory, and ensuring responsible alcohol service. The work schedule is intermittent, ranging from 0-19 hours per week, with an hourly pay of $21.03.

Requirements

  • Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale which includes knowledge of a wide variety of beverages and ability to combine ingredients such as liquors, soda water, sugar, bitters and fruit and the ability to mix exotic drinks.
  • Experience recognizing intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolving the problem or seeking assistance.
  • Experience following proper cash handling procedures.
  • Must be able to stoop, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 10 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to and over 40 pounds.
  • Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages.

  • Two years of experience as a bartender.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares alcoholic or nonalcoholic drinks following a variety of established and complex recipes.
  • Serves patrons directly or delivers to wait staff.
  • Ensures bar is in a presentable and sanitary condition.
  • Assures an adequate stock level is maintained, sets up storeroom and work area to permit easy access to stock items.
  • Maintains work area neat and clean.
  • Washes bar equipment, glassware, and utensils following proper sanitation procedures.
  • Stocks services bars as required.
  • Responsible for the proper operation of the bar, receipts, and inventory accountability.
  • Assists in taking inventory and maintaining records on which drinks and liquors are in greatest demand.
  • Accepts money, operates cash register, and makes change.
  • May be required to prepare documentation for cash funds accountability.
  • Completes required training in the serving of alcohol beverages before starting work.
  • Identifies persons who become unruly or who appear intoxicated, resolves the problem, or seeks assistance in accordance with established procedures.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and standards.
  • Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures.
  • Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
  • Must have working knowledge of sanitation procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
