About The Position

AHC Hospitality represents a diverse array of hotels, restaurants, and resorts, providing exceptional experiences for guests. This role is part of The Lounge at Margaux, responsible for daily operations including table and bar maintenance, guest satisfaction, and back-of-house duties. The associate must adhere to JW Marriott Grand Rapids and Marriott Quality Assurance Standards, fostering a teamwork environment and delivering quality service.

Requirements

  • Previous restaurant experience
  • Proficient in classic and modern cocktails with deep understanding of flavor profiles, ingredients and mixology techniques
  • Knowledge of wine and champagne with the ability to recommend pairings
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Skilled in upselling premium spirits, wines, cocktails
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean, well-stocked, and orderly bar
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, especially during busy or challenging situations
  • An eye for presentation to create visually appealing drinks that match the upscale ambiance
  • Excellent communication skills to work smoothly with the kitchen, waitstaff, and management
  • TiPS Certification required within 90 days of employment

Nice To Haves

  • MGS (Marriott Global Source) knowledge is preferred
  • BarArts Certification
  • Complete mandatory training through MGS

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate service bar ticket times.
  • Maintain bar cleanliness and follow daily checklists for setup and breakdown.
  • Be knowledgeable about menu items, ingredients, bar specials, and 86'd items.
  • Perform restaurant service including counter service, food running, table service, and deliveries.
  • Order products for the next day through Birchstreet.
  • Maintain a good rapport with Purchasing and communicate bar needs.
  • Manage time effectively to complete daily tasks.
  • Communicate needs and ordering to Restaurant Managers.
  • Be aware of local events and provide suggestions to guests.
  • Follow and maintain Health Department Specs, including temperature logs, product rotation, and waste logging.
  • Strive to exceed guest satisfaction and provide the best possible service.
  • Understand all job responsibilities and display necessary skills.
  • Complete daily cleaning duties and side work tasks.
  • Report to work on time and follow the department attendance policy.
  • Participate in department meetings and communicate ideas and opinions.
  • Display a positive, courteous, and polite attitude and work well with others.
  • Take pride in appearance and report to work in complete uniform.
  • Be knowledgeable of Marriott QA Steps of Service and display them in guest interactions.
  • Display a sense of urgency and the ability to resolve guest concerns independently.
  • Utilize time well and be productive throughout the shift.
  • Look for ways to save money by reducing waste and controlling expenses, and generate revenue through suggestive selling.
  • Keep work area neat and clean, pick up trash in public and back of house areas, and recycle appropriately.
  • Follow AHC safety standards.
  • Attend TIPS training and properly card guests.
  • Be comfortable pouring wine, beer, or making mixed drinks when a bartender is not present.
