Bartender
About The Position
Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking dedicated and service-focused hospitality leaders to join the team of the Grand Gardner Hotel as Bartender. The Grand Gardner Hotel is an Urschel Development property located in Downtown Valparaiso, IN. This independent boutique hotel is located on a quiet, tree-lined street just steps away from downtown Valparaiso. Designed to feel welcoming to both guests and employees, it features 58 rooms and suites, a full-service restaurant, a speakeasy, banquets space and inviting shared spaces. This is a place built on teamwork, hands-on training, and growth. Employees are encouraged to learn, share ideas, and take pride in creating great guest experiences, all while being part of a supportive, close-knit team.
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of safe serving practices.
- Proficiency with POS systems.
- Ability to work efficiently during peak hours.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to carry 50-pound service trays.
- Ability to stand for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a high-end bar or boutique hotel environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Delivering exceptional guest service with a focus on professional beverage preparation and hospitality in the restaurant and outlet areas.
- Managing liquor inventory.
- Preparing garnishes.
- Maintaining a deep knowledge of wine, beer, and specialty cocktails to offer pairing suggestions.
- Ensuring accurate billing through the POS system.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workstation.
- Collaborating closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to foster a warm and gracious atmosphere.
