About The Position

The Burleigh at the Kennebunkport Inn is currently interviewing for a Bartender to join their team! The Burleigh is open Wednesday thru Sunday, Happy Hour 4-5pm, Dining Room 4-8pm, and Bar until 9pm. NO LATE NIGHTS and Mondays/Tuesdays guaranteed off! PLUS, this position qualifies for Part Time Benefit Eligibility and access to Medical, Dental and Vision insurance coverage, as well as other KRC perks like nationwide discounts on travel and dining. The Burleigh is the central hub for Kennebunkport's bustling downtown area, directly in front of Dock Square where we celebrate the holiday tree lighting, multiple Christmas Prelude events, and en route of parades, historical tours, and so much more. Under Chef Bryan Grossman, The Burleigh embraces contemporary American cuisine and elevated gastro-pub fare. After this Summer's successful Botanical Bar takeover, we're looking forward to the incredibly popular Tinsel Bar at Burleigh during the month of December. Requirements

  • 1+ Year bartending experience at a full-service bar.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Expresses a positive attitude and sincere enthusiasm for the role.
  • Must know how to prioritize and respond in a timely fashion. Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while remaining hospitable to guests at all times.
  • Understanding of restaurant operations; food and beverage knowledge, steps of service, and cash management as it pertains to the selling of food and beverages.
  • Ability to remain standing for up to 8 hours (100% of shift).
  • Ability to remain in a standing or walking position for 90% of shift, given moderate rest breaks.
  • Ability to regularly move and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift items overhead. Ability to bend and reach frequently and repetitively during a shift.
  • Ability to visibly survey property areas clearly.
  • Ability to move up and down stairs.
  • Ability to use repetitive manual dexterity.
  • Ability to move quickly based on guest needs.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information effectively, often in a public forum.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to complete satisfactory background check.
  • Able/willing to work flexible hours based on business needs including both weekdays and weekends.
  • Ability to furnish ME Liquor affidavit for state liquor requirements.
  • Ability to furnish safe alcohol service training certificate requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, direct, seat, and take food and beverage orders. Serve guests in accordance with company standards.
  • Adhere to all beverage pour and recipe standards.
  • Communicate inventory needs to appropriate manager.
  • Be knowledgeable of all food, wine, beer, alcohol, and specialty cocktails offered.
  • Conscious wine knowledge with ability to make pairing suggestions.
  • Use the suggestive selling methods. Must continuously strive for revenue growth.
  • Understand and communicate daily specials and specialty menus to guests.
  • Understand and practice safe serving practices as they relate to alcohol service, such as recognizing intoxication and refusing service to a guest. Consult with Restaurant Manager when support is needed.
  • Be perceptive, proactive, and engaging. Anticipate your guest’s needs. Personalize the guest experience when possible; remember your guest and their requests
  • Complete pre-shift preparation such as preparing and stocking garnishes, pre-mix, and ice.
  • Complete side work and closing tasks as required such as cleaning, sanitation of ice bins, and restocking for next shift.
  • Operate efficiently and calmly throughout peak service times and high stress situations. Seek assistance from leadership when needed to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Clean and maintain all working areas and equipment.
  • Prepare and present final bill to guest for payment. Obtain settlement and process using the POS system with adjusted tip if noted.
  • Reconciliate cash, accurately charge credit cards, and make appropriate cash deposits at end of shift.
  • Check out with manager once shift is complete.
  • Practice cleanliness and safety in all dining areas, liquor and wine storage areas.
  • Participate in daily staff meetings and department training meetings.
  • Assist team members as needed to promote a positive teamwork environment.
  • Practice conscious knowledge of food allergies and safety.
  • Understand and practice all safety and security procedures, including Evacuation Procedures, Accident Reporting, Right to Know Law, Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures, Anti-Harassment, and Anti-Violence Policies.
  • Escalate associate concerns to Restaurant Manager.
