About The Position

The Bartender is responsible for greeting customers, taking drink/food orders, mixing ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, and sugar to prepare cocktails and other drinks, as well as serving beer and other beverages, and completing transactions. This role involves assisting and approaching all guests in a sincere, courteous and service-oriented manner, and whenever possible, going the extra mile to ensure total guest satisfaction. The Bartender will learn guest’s name and use them to address them, remember regular guest’s favorite drinks, and perform cashier duties following both Stonebridge Companies and the Franchise standards, while ensuring quality service and guest satisfaction. A key part of the role is thoroughly and correctly setting up the bar prior to opening, and ensuring the bar is clean before and at the end of shift according to operational policies and standards to ensure guest comfort and satisfaction. Completing necessary side-work as per schedule, which includes stocking and organizing all liquor, juices, glassware, paper, wines, cut fruit, etc., is also essential. The Bartender must be knowledgeable about all menu items and beverages served, their garnish, contents and preparation methods, and be able to answer guest’s questions regarding such with confidence and accuracy. Utilizing suggestive selling techniques to increase check averages is expected. The role requires completing and maintaining up-to-date alcohol serving classes, such as TIPS or other state approved classes, and adhering to all local and national liquor laws. Checking guest orders prior to serving to ensure that appearance, temperature and portions are correct, and assisting in maintaining beverage cost by reducing unnecessary waste are also responsibilities. Taking and knowing inventory at all times and requisitioning daily supplies as needed to ensure efficient operations is required. The Bartender will take orders accurately and follow proper cashiering functions by completing/closing guest checks and submitting information into the POS system. Following prescribed procedures in serving liquor and being knowledgeable about the computer system to handle all guest transactions are necessary. Pre-bussing and bussing all tables per standards and preparing them for future customers is part of the job. Attending meetings/training as required by management is also expected. The employee must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages, according to local state laws. Maintaining regular attendance, being consistently on time, and observing prescribed work, break and meal periods in compliance with standards are required. Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes compliance with the dress code, is also essential. Performing any other duties as requested by supervisor is part of the role. Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Ability to interpret and perform basic math functions.
  • Ability to interpret and perform basic computer and POS system functions.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages, according to local state laws.
  • Must complete and maintain up-to-date alcohol serving class, such as TIPS or other state approved classes.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Completion of Bartender's school or course preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of bartending experience preferred.
