About The Position

Berenjak is opening in Chicago, inspired by Tehran's neighborhood kebab houses, focusing on incredible food, genuine hospitality, and bringing people together. As a founding team member, you will contribute to creating a restaurant where guests and staff feel cared for. The Bartender at Berenjak is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, serving food, and providing excellent service and memorable experiences to guests and members. You will act as an extension of the brand, management, and global food and drink program, maintaining professional behavior, charismatic energy, and a positive attitude to foster a fun environment that encourages conversation and sales. A successful Bartender will greet customers, learn their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, prepare beverages, upsell items, create recipes, use proper equipment and ingredients, and perform basic cleaning duties. Key attributes include a neat appearance, engaging personality, efficiency, observance, knowledge, and a passion for craft cocktails.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience working in high-volume F&B operation
  • Craft cocktail experience and working with seasonally influenced perishable items
  • Ability to multitask and deliver drink requests in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining consistency
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Flexible schedule and reliable
  • Tips certified
  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
  • Fast paced movements are required to go from one part of the club to others.
  • Must be able to move, pull, carry or lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, juices, coffee, and drinks used at the bar according to steps of service and company guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized section and collaborate with other bartenders to wash glassware and utensils after each use.
  • Clean up after customers and maintain a clean work area.
  • Educate guests and members about beverage options through House Tonic trainings.
  • Discuss and describe daily specials, seasonally influenced menu items, and food pairing options to promote additional sales and create an optimal dining experience.
  • Collect payment for all sold items and operate a cash register.
  • Check identification of customers to ensure they meet age requirements for alcohol and tobacco purchases and to determine if a customer has had too much alcohol.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to create attractive displays that promote specific beverage options and increase sales and member/guest experience.
  • Serve customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Monitor and maintain an inventory of supplies and delegate replenishment of items to Barbacks.
  • Mix ingredients according to drink recipes to maintain a globally unified beverage program and consistent experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
