About The Position

The Grand Rapids Downtown Market is home to the Christkindl Markt, one of the Midwest's premier holiday traditions, welcoming hundreds of thousands of guests each season. We are seeking enthusiastic, professional, and hospitality-minded Bartenders to provide exceptional beverage service and create memorable guest experiences. Bartenders prepare and stock their stations, serve guests, maintain clean and organized workspaces, and help bring the magic of the holiday season to life. Working closely with the Bar Supervisor and event team, you'll contribute to efficient bar operations while delivering friendly, professional service. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • At least 1–2 years of customer service or hospitality experience required.
  • Current TIPS Michigan On-Premise Alcohol Server Certificate required, or ability to successfully complete the required online training before the Christkindl Markt opens on November 18.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, organization, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to creating exceptional guest experiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous bartending experience preferred.
  • Previous POS experience preferred; Square experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, stock, and maintain a clean, organized bar station before, during, and after each shift.
  • Provide friendly, efficient, and professional beverage service to Christkindl Markt guests.
  • Accurately enter orders and process credit card payments using the POS system.
  • Check identification, verify legal drinking age, monitor guest consumption, and follow responsible alcohol service policies.
  • Develop knowledge of beer, wine, and other beverage offerings to answer guest questions.
  • Monitor inventory and proactively communicate restocking, supply, cleaning, or operational needs to the Bar Supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness and follow all applicable safety, sanitation, and service standards.
  • Collaborate with bartenders, Bar Supervisors, Bar Backs, Bar Pourers, and event staff to support smooth operations.
  • Assist with additional bar and event duties as needed.
