About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing and serving drinks to restaurant guests, both directly and through the wait staff. The role requires preparing and serving wine, liquor, and beer, arranging bottles and glasses for attractive displays, slicing and pitting fruit for garnishing drinks, and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of drink recipes, and wine and beer trends. The bartender will also check guest identification for age verification, serve food items to guests seated at the bar, attend pre-shift meetings, stock beer and wine coolers, and maintain knowledge of all menu items, wine lists, daily additions, and beverages offered. Additionally, the role involves following safety and sanitation policies, communicating and working closely with servers, exemplifying a service and sales mentality, following cash handling rules, understanding emergency procedures, and collecting and reporting tips at the end of the shift. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Previous training in liquor, wine, and food service
  • BASSET certification required.
  • Two years or more of bartending experience, preferably in a casual fine dining restaurant environment.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Neat and clean appearance
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must have problem solving abilities, and the ability to compute basic arithmetic.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work nights weekends, and Holidays.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for up to 8 hours a day, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill job duties
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs regularly, and up to 50 pounds on occasion.

Nice To Haves

  • Illinois Food Handler Certification is preferred.
  • Micros experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and serves wine, liquor, and beer in accordance with requirements pertaining to the serving of alcoholic beverages.
  • Arranges bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
  • Slices and pits fruit for garnishing drinks.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of drink recipes, and wine and beer trends.
  • Checks identification of guests in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
  • Serves food items to guests seated at the bar promptly and according to established standards, policies and procedures.
  • Attends all pre-shift meetings.
  • Stocks beer and wine coolers.
  • Maintains a complete and up-to-date knowledge of all menu items, wine lists, daily additions and beverages offered.
  • Follows safety and sanitation policies.
  • Communicates and works closely with the servers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Exemplify a service and sales mentality at all times.
  • Knows and follows all cash handling rules and regulations.
  • Understands all applicable emergency procedures and evacuations.
  • Collects and reports tips at the end of the assigned shift.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
