About The Position

Explore Edmonton is looking for a Bartender Supervisor to join the Banquets Department at the Edmonton Convention Centre. Reporting directly to the Beverage Manager, the Bartender Supervisor supports the day-to-day operation of beverage services by overseeing bar operations, supervising and training bartending staff, supporting inventory controls, coordinating event setup and teardown, and completing administrative duties as required. This role is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient beverage service while maintaining compliance with AGLC regulations and Explore Edmonton policies and procedures. The Bartender Supervisor may also assume operational responsibilities of the Beverage Manager in their absence.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of bartending or hospitality industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a bartending environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong verbal communication, customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to think critically and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities during events.
  • Knowledge of AGLC rules and regulations.
  • Business-level English language skills.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely lift and move beverage products and equipment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and hours required to support event operations.

Nice To Haves

  • ProServe certification is considered an asset.
  • Additional certifications such as First Aid, wine education, mixology training, or forklift certification are also considered assets.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise frontline bartending staff and support event operations through pre-event meetings, service oversight, coaching, and training.
  • Ensure all operational requirements are met and make decisions related to liquor service, including guest safety and responsible beverage service.
  • Monitor staff and guest interactions to ensure proper transactions and adherence to AGLC regulations.
  • Coordinate room and bar setup and teardown activities, including preparing liquor carts, assigning staff, and returning equipment and product to storage areas.
  • Maintain inventory controls, including product rotation, reporting breakage or spillage, and assisting with inventory counts.
  • Provide bartending services as required, including serving beverages, verifying proof of age, processing transactions, and delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Track product issues, returns, and host ticket usage, and assist with event reporting when required.
  • Follow Explore Edmonton's Health & Safety Program, OH&S regulations, and department Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support Explore Edmonton's sustainability initiatives by following waste sorting guidelines and promoting sustainable practices.
