About The Position

The Front Yard Hotel is seeking a skilled and passionate Bartender/Mixologist to join their Food & Beverage team. This role is responsible for the execution of beverage service at the highest level within the restaurant and lounge. The ideal candidate will effectively communicate with guests, management, and staff, and understand and comply with all hotel policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Two years or more of bar service in a food-driven and high-service level establishment preferred.
  • Able to speak proficiently about seasonal food ingredients and guide guests through a menu.
  • Able to learn and retain new menu information daily.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all spirits (small batch vodka, gin, bourbon, whiskey, tequila, aperetifs, cordials, Scottish whiskey).
  • Extensive knowledge of beer (production, styles, California microbrews).
  • Knowledge and ability to construct all proper cocktails with correct ingredients, structure, and procedure.
  • Able to speak proficiently about the taste and composition of all spirits, beer, and wine.
  • Extensive knowledge of wine (varietals, pairings, regions, language).
  • Able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management, staff, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Fully understands the drink menu and wine list, including ingredients, preparation, and accompanying service.
  • Delivers all required Standards of Service to the guest.
  • Responsible for the complete service at the bar and lounge.
  • Maintains a constant flow of clean barware.
  • Meticulously cleans and resets the bar and lounge during and after meal periods.
  • Efficiently uses the POS system and manages bar inventory.
  • Proficient in multi-tasking and managing designated stations.
  • Complies with opening and closing duties, as well as running side work.
  • Maintains direct and consistent communication with the culinary and management team.
  • Processes guest checks and submits closing paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Listens to and resolves customer complaints.
  • Effectively delegates service responsibilities to assisting staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assists management with beverage inventory, storage, and maintaining beverage cost controls.
  • Handles cash effectively and accurately drops correct daily cash sales.
  • Demonstrates ability to learn and adapt based on management feedback.
  • Routinely shows up to work on time and prepared.
