About The Position

A Barrel Cellar Operator IV job in Paterson, WA based out of our Columbia Crest Winery facility is available at Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE). In this role you will Operate all processing equipment used in the production of red wines and white wines. This role is primary supporting our day shift, but you must be able to work variable shifts and extended hours during peak season. Ste. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age (Alcohol)
  • Minimum of one year experience in wine processing or related field/industry preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • 3-5 years experience in wine processing or related industry
  • Able to operate processing equipment with proven capabilities to qualify and operate other equipment as necessary
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to follow work orders and written instructions.
  • Possess moderate mechanical ability
  • Must be certified or able to certify in forklift operation
  • Able to interact with others effectively and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to work shift work and overtime as needed
  • Must be able to work shift work and extended hours during harvest time
  • Must be able to handle heavy physical labor
  • Ability to bend, squat, stand for long periods, and climb stairs, catwalks and ladders.
  • History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.

  • Minimum of one year experience in wine processing or related field/industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of destemmed/crusher, rotary fermenters, presses and forklift
  • Perform chemical additions, complete work orders
  • Assist in the direction of Grade II, III and temporary cellar workers as assigned by department winemakers and supervisors
  • Interact with other departments to ensure correct processing
  • Perform weekly safety check
  • Perform light mechanical duties
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
