About The Position

The Barn Helper supports the daily operations of the Equestrian Centre by assisting with horse care, facility maintenance, and member and guest services. This position works closely with Wranglers and other team members to help ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment while contributing to the successful delivery of equestrian programs and activities. The ideal candidate is dependable, team-oriented, and able to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor setting.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass employment background check and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license in accordance with the laws of the State of Montana; must be insurable under the company’s auto insurance policy.
  • Must be able to work variable schedule or irregular hours to include last-minute scheduling needs/changes and working split shifts based on needs of the Club operations and scheduled events.
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekday, weekend, and evening/late evening hours as required.
  • Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions as needed and to walk on uneven ground.
  • Ability to perform same-day travel on Stock Farm Property and within local geographic region.

Responsibilities

  • Provides exceptional service to members and guests by engaging professionally, anticipating needs, and responding to requests; assists with accommodating special requests as directed by Wranglers or the Equestrian Centre Manager.
  • Assists Wranglers with the care and preparation of horses for trail rides, Kids Camp, and other equestrian activities, including grooming, saddling, bridling, feeding, watering, and returning horses to designated areas.
  • Supports Wranglers during Kids Camp and other horse-related activities by assisting participants and helping ensure a safe, positive experience for children and guests both in and out of the arena.
  • Assists Wranglers with the general care and upkeep of horses and similar mules/donkeys to include feeding, watering, and grooming, and similar duties according to Club policy, procedure and assigned schedules.
  • Completes general chores including; care and upkeep of tack and horse stalls/barns, cleaning of facilities, roadways and arena, care and conditioning of tack and associated equipment; storing of tools, lesson aids, and similar functions.
  • Assists Wranglers with herd management responsibilities, including monitoring horse health, identifying and reporting injuries or illnesses, inspecting fence conditions, and providing basic equine care as assigned by the Equestrian Centre Manager.
  • Accompanies Wranglers on rides in an assistant role. The Barn Helper is not guaranteed rides every day and will not take out any rides without accompanying Wrangler(s).
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.
