About The Position

Groundwork Coffee is seeking an outgoing, energetic, and community-focused Barista to join their team. This role offers exposure to various aspects of third-wave café operations, requiring knowledge of specialty coffee, tea, and drink preparation, with a focus on manual espresso equipment and organic product offerings. The ideal candidate will be passionate about crafting high-quality beverages, providing excellent customer service, and continuously improving their skills.

Requirements

• 1 year café experience preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
• Ability to learn and apply new knowledge or skills for your work
• Knowledge of proper bar cleaning methods including manual espresso equipment
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and cooperate seamlessly with co-workers, management, and shift leaders
• Ability to work & think independently, make quality decisions in the absence of a supervisor
• Perform math computations (add, subtract, divide, and multiply)
• Ability to lift and or move up to 50lbs
• Previous experience with café POS systems
• Valid ServSafe certification or equivalent Food Handlers card

Responsibilities

• Provide a best-in-class customer service experience to create a phenomenal first impression.
• Consistently produce high-quality beverages and products that meet brand expectations by executing recipe requirements correctly.
• Educate customers and staff on coffee, tea, and espresso offerings.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work station and café area.
• Ensure appropriate health and safety standards, including ServSafe practices.
• Stock and maintain sufficient product levels at stations for smooth service.
• Maintain proper cash handling and ensure adherence to procedures.
• Properly open and/or close the location, following the closing checklist.
• Reduce product waste and overages.
• Maintain a sense of urgency when assisting customers.
