About The Position

Job Summary: The Barista is primarily responsible for taking orders, preparing beverages, and serving guests at Portside Coffee & Gelato. This position is also responsible for cleanliness and safety of coffee & gelato shop areas of the property. About Portside Coffee & Gelato: Portside Coffee & Gelato is part of The Brigantine, Inc. with over 20 restaurants in 6 concepts throughout San Diego County: The Brigantine Seafood and Oyster Bar, Miguel’s Cocina, Ketch Brewing, Ketch Grill and Taps, Topsail, and Portside Coffee & Gelato. Requirements

Friendly, energetic, detail-oriented team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment!
Coffee experience is a plus but not required. We offer on-the-job training.
A desire to help where needed and work as part of a team.
Ability to work positively and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire bar area and service wells.
Excellent communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Exhibit a professional appearance and mannerisms.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
Must be able to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, and wipe for extended periods of time.
Must be able to carry trays and supplies (up to 25 lbs.).
Food Handler Certification.

Responsibilities

Deliver an amazing guest experience with fast and friendly service when taking orders and processing payments.
Be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu, with the ability to answer questions and make suggestions.
Prepare and serve beverages consistently adhering to all recipe standards.
Anticipate guests’ needs and exceed customer service expectations.
Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation and safety policies.
Keep designated service stations clean and organized.
Restock and replenish bar inventory.
Concludes the guest experience by acknowledging choice of establishment and inviting patrons to return.
Ensure guests are enjoying their experience and take action to correct any problems.
Complete assigned sidework at the beginning, during, and at end of shift.
