Requirements

  • One (1) year of food service experience
  • A Food Handlers Permit or Servsafe Certification within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Interact daily with patients, families, visitors, and staff and participate and support all aspects of healthcare food service operations.
  • Work with facility staff to provide optimal nutritional care and demonstrate excellent customer service to patients, guests and staff.
  • Prepare and serve items, engaging with customers and thoroughly maintaining food safety and cleanliness, with additional support tasks as needed by the food service team.
  • Comply with healthcare foodservice industry standards, regulations, and guidelines, including proper monitoring and maintenance of food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage.
  • Adhere to procedures that prevent cross-contamination and ensures compliance with personal hygiene standards.
  • Maintain accurate labeling of food products and ensures proper storage of food, equipment, and machinery in accordance with regulatory and facility guidelines.
  • Prepare and serve meals in accordance with established menus and dietary guidelines, utilizing appropriate kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of recipe ingredients to accurately address food allergy inquiries and special dietary requests.
  • Follow organizational standards and guidelines for a high quality patient and customer experience.
  • Ensure proper meal portioning and an aesthetically pleasing presentation.
  • Serve customers in a coffee shop or retail food area.
  • Operate a cash register and handle payments.
  • Assemble, deliver, and retrieve patient trays.
  • Prepare cold food items (e.g., sandwiches, salads).
  • Support catering services, including food delivery and pick-up.
  • Wash dishes and pots.
  • Clean equipment and maintain work areas (e.g., sweeping, mopping, taking out trash).
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are met.
  • Stock food and supply items in retail and service areas.
  • Assist with inventory checks and restocking as needed.
