About The Position

The Barista is responsible for greeting customers, answering their questions, taking orders and accepting payments and preparing and serving food and drinks. Always presents a friendly and professional image at the Hotel/Casino. Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs. Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters. Provides impeccable guest service to all guests.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to handle several projects and tasks at the same time.
• Must be able to perform the physical job duties of all Food & Beverage team members.
• Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
• Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
• All applicants must complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in food and beverage preparation preferred.
• Guest service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions and accepting orders and payments.
• Prepares foods, such as sandwiches or baked goods, and grinds and blends coffee beans, brews coffee and tea and serves items to customers.
• Packages food and beverages for sale.
• Sells coffee and tea blends.
• Cleans and restocks work area, dining area, and empties trash and sanitizes equipment and utensils.
• Learns about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
• Updates signage and displays to attract customers.
• Takes inventory and replenishes items in display cases, at tables or behind the counter.
• Adheres to all food safety regulations and quality controls.
• Follows established procedures and policies of the Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort.
