About The Position

The Barista will contribute to the mission and success of Provenance Hotel Group by creating exceptional ways of personalizing and providing the best guest service in the hospitality industry and ensuring our high standards of service are met. The Barista will provide prompt and courteous service and quality beverages to all guests, encouraging the guest to return again which will generate repeat business. The Barista is responsible for providing quality guest services that include providing a positive first and last impression and a friendly, upbeat and clean atmosphere to every guest. When servicing guests, the Barista is responsible for being professional, friendly, and helpful, using the "Five Hospitality Standards" of eye contact, a smile, speak first, engage in polite conversation, and use the guest's surname. He/She displays a positive attitude at all times to ensure repeat business. All functions are carried out to maintain an environment of teamwork. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
  • Effective oral communication skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Must provide the highest customer service to all guest.
  • Ability to interact with guests using the "Hospitality Standards" set out by your General Manager.

  • Delivers legendary customer service to all guests by performing job duties with a "customer comes first" attitude.
  • Anticipate customer, hotel and department needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cue.
  • Strive to understand the needs and preferences of the guests and ensure that those needs and preferences are met.

  • Greet the guest enthusiastically with a welcoming and proper hospitality greeting.

  • Initiate friendly and casual conversation with guests when appropriate.

  • Suggest product with every customer to enhance service and meet sales goals.
  • Operate and maintain the espresso machine.
  • Prepares quality espresso drinks, hot and cold blended beverages to standards.
  • Process information/merchandise through POS register system
  • Set-up and maintain pastry bar and flavor bar.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that employees can locate resources and product as needed.
  • Evaluate guest satisfaction by asking the guests about their experience.
  • Inquire about guest’s stay at check-out time and expresses a warm and sincere thank you for their patronage and invite them back again.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and shows appropriate respect for all individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep department operating to standard and create a pleasant ambiance.
  • Follow and maintain the Hotel’s professional image guidelines to communicate the Provenance style message to the guests and the general public.
  • Works effectively with others.
  • Maintains open communication among team members.
  • Provide constructive feedback that will improve guest service or operational effectiveness to hotel management.
  • Exhibit good judgment in executing all aspects of the position.
  • Follows operational policies and procedures to include cash/cash equivalent, safety and security to ensure safety of all employees during each shift.
  • Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations to ensure own safety, safety of all guests and fellow employees.
  • Know fire and emergency procedures.
  • Follow inventory stocking and recording guidelines.
  • Contribute to hotel goals for increasing sales and improving profits.
  • Enthusiastically recommend and promote all hotel functions and facilities.
  • Submit all lost and found articles accompanied by a Lost and Found report to Housekeeping.
  • Regular attendance in conformance with Hotel standards is essential to the successful performance of this position.
  • Fully comply with Provenance hotels rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the hotel facilities.
  • Attend mandatory meetings.
  • Performs all other duties as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Immediately report out-of-the ordinary issues to manager or supervisor.
  • Knowledgeable of facilities, service, and hours of operations of hotel as well as information about the local area to provide service information to the guest (i.e., hours of operation, meeting room locations, times of continental breakfast or coffee/tea service (Club Level Only), location and schedule of local events and attractions, directions to airports and major places of business, and transportation options.
  • Refer to daily event sheet to direct guests to the correct meeting room.
