BARISTA (FULL TIME)
About The Position
The Barista prepares and serves coffee, espresso drinks, and related food and beverage items, following standard recipes, portion controls, food-safety procedures, and HACCP guidelines. The role involves taking and processing customer orders, handling payments, maintaining clean and orderly work and service areas, and ensuring food and beverages are presented attractively and served at appropriate temperatures. The Barista interacts with customers courteously, answers questions about menu items, supports customers’ purchasing decisions, and relays relevant customer concerns to supervisors. The position is based at 3075 Olcott Street, Santa Clara, California. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Previous barista experience is required. Pay is $21.63 to $22.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Previous barista experience is required.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes.
- Enter orders accurately into the POS device and accept cash and charge payments.
- Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining a clean service area.
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures; follow HACCP standards.
- Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies, and utensils.
- Prepare food using approved recipes and prescribed production standards.
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service.
- Thoroughly clean equipment and the workstation before leaving the area for other assignments.
- Greet customers courteously and interact with them to ensure satisfaction; relay relevant customer concerns to supervisors.
- Serve customers quickly and efficiently and prevent delays in serving lines.
- Understand daily menu items and explain them accurately to customers.
- Use selling techniques, communicate with customers, and assist with buying decisions.
- Merchandise display foods attractively and serve food neatly according to standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
