About The Position
Intelligentsia is a specialty coffee company, founded in Chicago in 1995, that is looking for a Barista for its Silver Lake Coffeebar. The company is a pioneer in the direct trade model for buying coffee and creating coffee partnerships globally. They are passionate about coffee and pay a premium for direct-sourced beans to foster long-term, collaborative relationships with producers. The starting wage for a Barista in Silver Lake is $18.96/hr, with potential to increase to $19.90/hr after certification within 90 days through an extensive training program. The position is eligible for tips, averaging $5.00-7.00/hr. Baristas in Los Angeles coffeebars are part of the IBEW Local 1220 union and are required to join after a probationary period. Intelligentsia offers comprehensive training, opportunities to improve coffee knowledge, and chances to taste exceptional coffee. They provide paid vacation, sick time, and 8 paid holidays. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is preferred
- Speak and read English proficiently
- Dependable with good attendance and punctuality
- Can effectively communicate with others
- Able to learn and master coffee tasting profiles and dial-ins
- Good teamwork skills
- Able to multi-task and work in a high-volume environment
Responsibilities
- Operationally, adhere to policies, safety standards and protocols, and make suggestions for improving operations
- Prepare and serve beverages that adhere to our freshness and quality standards
- Maintain your coffee knowledge to educate and communicate with guests
- Engage with all guests in a hospitable, sincere and friendly manner.
