About The Position

Creative Dining Services at Washtenaw Community College is seeking a part time Barista. The Barista maintains operations at the Coffee Shop while maintaining a positive environment, which provides fast, efficient, and friendly service ensuring a quality experience for both our customers and team members. The Barista is responsible for customer service, product knowledge and education, and encouraging safe work practices.

Requirements

• One year of retail or six months of specialty coffee experience.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Must possess a positive, can-do attitude, be detail oriented, with a love and a passion for food.
• Must work with others in a cooperative manner, even while working under pressure.
• Willing to engage actively in the physical work of a high-quality food service operation.
• Expected to adhere to Employee Handbook policies and procedures.
• As a representative of Creative Dining Services, must function in accordance with our corporate Mission, Vision, and Core Values statements.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and presents food & beverages according to established recipe and presentation standards.
• Provides service to the customers in a positive, friendly, helpful manner.
• Runs a register, other devices and Credit Card Machine accurately, following all cash handling procedures.
• Ensures accurate accounting of all transactions, collections and disbursements during work shift.
• Follows current trends in the coffee business and makes operations suggestions.
• Assists in menu development.
• Assists with special events as assigned.
• Assists with product management; including ordering and inventory of stock.
