About The Position

Bridgeway Community Health is currently seeking an experienced Barista for a temporary full-time position for 6 months. This role is part of the growing Culinary team, working alongside passionate individuals dedicated to transforming lives and restoring relationships. Bridgeway offers holistic treatment for addiction recovery, problem gambling, mental health, and primary medical care. The Barista will make and serve beverages like coffee and tea at our new building location. Responsibilities include educating customers on the coffee menu, making recommendations, taking orders and payments, and maintaining a clean work and seating area. Customer service skills and knowledge of brewing equipment operation are expected. This is a temporary full-time position for 6 months, with an anticipated start date in the last week of June or sooner. There is potential for this role to transition to a regular full-time position supporting the culinary services team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one year of café/coffee shop experience as a barista.
  • Must be able to pass background check and other employment requirements relevant to the position.
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations.
  • Flexibility and reliability especially with attendance.
  • Customer service skills and knowledge.
  • High level of attention-to-detail.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to gauge customers' preferences.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work.
  • Positive and approachable manner.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Knowledge of espresso machines and maintenance, being able to troubleshoot breakdowns and relay information to the supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers and engage in friendly conversation to determine their coffee interests and needs.
  • Provide customers with the coffee drink menu and answer questions regarding menu, ingredients, and other related items.
  • Take orders while paying attention to details such as coffee blend preferences, dairy, and sugar ratios.
  • Receive and process customer payments.
  • Prepare coffee drinks by following prescribed preparation techniques for drinks like espresso, caffe latte, and cappuccino.
  • Keep the work and coffee seating areas clean and sanitized.
  • Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates.
  • Replenish coffee bean supply and maintain related supplies.
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, checking brewing equipment, and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following culinary standards and sanitation regulations.
  • Communicate customer feedback to supervisors and recommend new menu items.
