About The Position

The Barista is a team-oriented member of SpaceX’s Hospitality team, serving employees, customers, government partners, potential clients, and visitors. The role prepares and serves coffee, espresso, tea beverages, and food products, and helps provide a welcoming atmosphere and accurate order fulfillment. It requires customer service skills, knowledge of food and beverage safety, and the ability to operate espresso machines and related coffee equipment. The position supports daily service and may assist with catering and events. This is a temporary position in Bastrop, Texas, for a stated length of three months. Conversion to permanent employment may be considered based on performance and business needs; the position’s duration is subject to change with minimal notice. The employee must be willing to travel to various SpaceX locations for mission-critical projects, work all shifts, and be available for overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
At least 1 year of barista experience, or at least 2 years of customer service experience in a food service environment that includes coffee and/or beverage services.
Must be willing to travel to various SpaceX locations for mission-critical projects.
Valid state-issued driver's license.
Must be willing to work all shifts and be available for overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to carry heavy items unassisted, up to 25 pounds.
Ability to stand for long periods, up to 8–12 hours a day.
Ability to bend, stoop, and lift objects frequently throughout the shift.
Must have or obtain a Texas Food Handlers card; training may be provided internally.
Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities

Set up, maintain, and clean workstations, surrounding areas, dining, work, and storage spaces to ensure safety and organization.
Clean and maintain departmental tools, equipment, and drip coffee stations.
Complete daily recordkeeping, tasks, and opening and closing checklists.
Meet leadership’s time and quality standards while working with urgency.
Engage customers, fulfill orders, and demonstrate strong customer service and communication, including communicating menu changes.
Assist with catering and event requests.
Follow safety guidelines and food safety and sanitation practices.
Interact professionally with guests, supervisors, and coworkers.
Prepare a variety of coffee, espresso, and tea beverages and food products.
Operate espresso machines with high proficiency.
