Bariatric Program Coordinator RN or Dietician
About The Position
Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and organized Bariatric Program Coordinator to lead their accredited bariatric surgery program. This role is open to Registered Nurses (RN) or Registered Clinical Dietitians. The coordinator will act as the program's clinical coordinator and patient advocate, partnering with surgeons, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and maintain high standards of quality and accreditation. The position focuses on patient education, care coordination, and helping individuals achieve lifelong health.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing OR an ACEND-accredited Nutrition and Dietetics program required
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License OR Illinois Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) required
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required for Dietitian applicants
- Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association or American Cross) required
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience required
- Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and patient education skills
- Passion for improving patient outcomes through compassionate, evidence-based care
Nice To Haves
- ACLS Certification preferred
- Previous experience in bariatric services, surgery, nutrition, weight management, care coordination, or case management preferred
- Knowledge of MBSAQIP standards, patient education, and multidisciplinary care coordination preferred
Responsibilities
- Coordinating all aspects of the bariatric surgery program from initial consultation through long-term follow-up
- Serving as the primary liaison between patients, bariatric surgeons, providers, dietitians, behavioral health professionals, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Educating patients and families on bariatric surgery, nutrition, lifestyle changes, pre-operative preparation, and post-operative care
- Coordinating appointments, diagnostic testing, referrals, support groups, and educational resources throughout the patient's bariatric journey
- Monitoring program outcomes, quality metrics, and accreditation requirements to ensure compliance with MBSAQIP and other regulatory standards
- Collaborating with physicians and leadership to improve patient outcomes, program growth, and operational excellence
- Maintaining accurate documentation and patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Providing compassionate guidance, encouragement, and ongoing support to help patients achieve lifelong success
