About The Position

Plans, organizes and directs the office services of the Division of Bariatric Surgery. Assumes responsibility for the smooth operation of the Bariatric Program. Directs and supervises the work activities of one or more administrative/clerical staff. The Bariatric Coordinator is part of a multi-disciplinary team, which include Surgeons, Dietitians, support and administrative staff. Provides administrative and clerical support to the Bariatric Surgery team. Acts as a point of contact for patient queries. Verifies patient information is correct. Ensures scheduling of patient appointments, education referrals and post-operative visit are completed. Handles administrative and insurance documentation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program OR Graduate of an accredited Nutrition and Dietetics Program OR High School Graduate with Certification in Practical Nursing
  • 3-5 years in healthcare management which includes financial reporting and budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Program development, preferably of a bariatric program
  • Current New York State License for the applicable healthcare field completed.
  • If Dietitian – Registration from the Commission on Dietetics Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Ability to develop Bariatric Service Line
  • Excellent interpersonal/organizational skills
  • Effectively coordinate staff and workflow in a busy Office
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledgeable of coding and billing practices
  • Excellent communication across organizational boundaries.
