About The Position

UIC Bowhead Transport seeks a land / sea-based Marine Operations Barge Master to oversee the barge operations at all ports of call. Responsibilities include but are not limited to stow planning, receiving freight, documentation, reconciliation, conducting safety meetings and writing reports. Regular travel throughout Alaska between the months of April through October is expected.

Requirements

• Two (2) years of experience operating boats of various sizes (river boats preferred)
• One (1) year of experience operating cargo delivery equipment (e.g., loaders, dozers, excavators, and various-sized forklifts)
• Two (2) years of experience operating equipment on and off barges or other marine equipment
• Valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

• Forklift Operator Certification.
• Knowledge of the Kuskokwim River from the mouth to McGrath.

Responsibilities

• Directing all aspects of barge cargo operations at any/all ports of call.
• Production of all required voyage documentation.
• Receiving cargo in preparation for voyage sailings.
• Loading and securing cargo to the vessel.
• Conducting regular safety and risk mitigation meetings.
• Training crews on all cargo operation procedures.
• Safely operate various cargo moving equipment (as needed).
• Extensive and frequent travel throughout Alaska between April & October.
