About The Position

As an apprentice, performs a variety of barbering services at a main branch or location haircare facility for authorized military and civilian personnel. Works under the supervision of a licensed Barber. Consults with clients on their hair care needs, maintains equipment and workstation cleanliness, and may handle sales and appointment booking. Ensures client satisfaction and adheres to all safety and sanitation protocols.

Requirements

Proof of enrollment in a state-accredited professional barber school or proof of completion of a military barber school.
Must obtain a valid state barber's license in the state where the position is located within 2 years of employment in the Barber Apprentice Program.
Requires continual use of both arms and legs, involving frequent standing, reaching, and light lifting.
Dexterity is required in applying manual techniques.
Must be medically screened and determined to be free of communicable diseases prior to initial assignment.
Required to wear a smock, wash hands thoroughly and frequently with soap and water, and sanitize barbering tools after each use.

Responsibilities

Provides barbering hair care services including shampooing, conditioning, cutting, shaping, shaving, and styling.
Massages neck, face, and scalp.
Checks client's scalp and hair for visible disorders.
Consults with clients on their hair care needs.
Maintains combs in solution and sanitizes equipment.
Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the designated work station and shop.
Makes minor repairs on equipment.
May operate cash register, prepare hair care chits, collect and account for cash, and balance daily sales.
Sells hair care products to clients.
Maintains the Daily Appointment Book.
May assist with monthly inventory.
Carries out policy of courtesy and customer service, ensuring 100% client satisfaction.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
