About The Position

The Barback is a part-time team member responsible for stocking and organizing bar inventories and supplies. This role assists bartenders and cocktail servers in guest service, interacts with guests and team members courteously, and ensures gracious hospitality. The position requires maintaining the cleanliness of the bar area and venue, possessing knowledge of menus and company policies, and complying with sanitation standards. The Barback also performs opening and closing procedures, manages beverage requisitions, and supports bartenders to ensure quality and speed of service. Additional duties include managing trash disposal, maintaining back-of-house storage and refrigeration, organizing liquor displays, reporting equipment damage, and participating in pre-service meetings and training sessions. The role involves learning from observation, sharing knowledge, and leading by example with a positive and professional attitude, demonstrating knowledge of Tao Group Hospitality and its partners.

Requirements

  • Previous hospitality experience.
  • Previous bar-backing experience.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant/nightclub/lounge.
  • Ability to write, read, and verbally communicate.
  • Must have good positive energy throughout the day.
  • Must be able to print legibly for Team Members, management, and guests to read.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move quickly.
  • Must be able to push and lift up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, and smoke, the severity of which depends upon the guest volume.
  • Exposure to cleaning materials.
  • Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company standards.
  • Must be effective as part of a team; ability to interact with internal and external customers, managers, and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Stocks and re-stocks all bar inventories and supplies while maintaining the organization of the bar.
  • Assists bartenders and cocktail servers (when applicable) in all aspects of guest service.
  • Interacts with the bar guests, fellow team members, and supervisors in a polite and courteous manner to ensure gracious hospitality.
  • Anticipates and accommodates the needs of the guests in a timely manner.
  • Provides professional and exceptional service.
  • Helps to ensure the delivery of all food and beverage to the guests.
  • Maintains general cleanliness of bar, bar area, and the entire venue.
  • Follows supervisor’s instructions, communicates with and supports co-workers while being a team player.
  • Possesses general knowledge of all food and beverage menus, and company policies & procedures.
  • Complies with Department of Health and company sanitation standards.
  • Works as part of a team and provides help and support to all fellow team members.
  • Communicates the needs of the guests to Front-of-House and Heart-of-House support staff, managers, and chefs.
  • Properly sets up the bar stations, performs side-work and other opening/closing procedures as directed by management.
  • Assists the bartenders to ensure a high level of quality and speedy service.
  • Responsible for emptying the trash from behind the bar and disposing of it correctly with all cardboard boxes broken down.
  • Responsible for keeping clean and organized to company standard all back-of-house storage and refrigeration.
  • Responsible for keeping all liquor displays and shelving organized and maintaining par levels.
  • Responsible for reporting all breakage, and damage of equipment or furniture immediately to management.
  • Attends and participates in daily pre-service meetings.
  • Attends and participates in any training sessions or departmental meetings.
  • Learns by listening, observing other team members, and sharing knowledge while leading by example.
  • Portrays a positive and professional attitude.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Tao Group Hospitality, its partners, and supporting hotel environments.
  • Assists and/or completes additional tasks as assigned.
