The Bar Porter is responsible for completing opening and closing duties, which include setting up necessary supplies and tools, cleaning equipment and areas, and ensuring all doors are locked. They will check with their captain or supervisor before leaving at the end of their shift. The role involves setting up, stocking, and maintaining work areas, including stocking ice, glassware, and paper supplies. Additionally, the Bar Porter will remove soiled wares from the bar top and tables, and maintain the cleanliness and condition of work areas, the bar, bar unit, tables, and other tools according to set-up guidelines. The position requires adherence to all company and safety/security policies and procedures, reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions, and completing safety training. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance, protecting company assets, and welcoming guests according to company standards are also key responsibilities. The role involves anticipating and addressing guest needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and fostering positive working relationships. The Bar Porter must read and visually verify information, stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects up to 50 pounds without assistance. Fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to move over various surfaces and stairs are necessary. Reaching overhead, below the knees, and performing other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors are also part of the role.
