About The Position
San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization with two front doors: the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. They integrate wildlife health and care, science, and education to develop sustainable conservation solutions. The Banquet Worker provides customers with table service and assists in making the assigned facility efficient and attractive to the public. This position reports to the Banquet Lead, Food Service Supervisor or Food Service Manager.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Open availability
- Experience in banquets
- Catering/Banquet experience is required
- Some bar tending experience is required
- Competently perform the essential functions, knowledge and skills outlined
- Effective customer service skills
- Ability to assist customers in making menu selections
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public in a diverse environment
- Ability to understand and carry-out instructions
- Ability to understand diagrams
- Ability to make simple arithmetic calculations
- Ability to understand and accurately pour beer, wine and liquor
- Ability to understand and operate equipment and appliances
- Ability to serve guests with proper and consistent etiquette
Responsibilities
- Serves orders for food and beverages
- Prepares some food items such as salads and sauces
- Assists in escorting guests to and from scheduled activities
- Advises guests regarding menu items
- Assists guests
- Answers guests' questions regarding the Zoo and Safari Park
- Greets guests
- Closes down event in a timely manner
- Follows standard inventory procedures
- Adheres to all SDZWA and department policies and practices
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as required
