About The Position

The Banquet Supervisor is responsible for supervising all areas within Catering/Food and Beverage, assisting in or executing banquet events, and ensuring the highest standards of service, health, sanitation, and safety. This role involves managing staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance appraisals, as well as handling financial aspects like payroll, event payments, and inventory. The supervisor must also maintain positive public and employee relations, comply with all relevant laws and internal controls, and ensure all necessary paperwork and reporting is completed accurately and on time. They will also be responsible for creating BEOs, conducting pre-shift meetings, and utilizing communication logs to ensure smooth operations and effective information transfer between shifts.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work unusual hours, days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Six months’ experience in Banquets, Food & Beverage, Restaurant and or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • ServSafe certification required within 90 days.
  • IPS training is required within 90 days.
  • Wisconsin bartender’s license required within 90 days.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Verifiable ability to work with mathematical concepts.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, and divide.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draws valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in hospitality, Restaurant or related field preferred.
  • One to two years food service supervisory experience preferred.
  • Wisconsin driver’s license with a good record preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as cashier when needed.
  • Supervise all areas within Catering/Food and Beverage.
  • Assist in the execution of banquet events or execute them independently.
  • Complete performance appraisals.
  • Oversee Banquet set-ups and schedule wait staff.
  • Understand Hotel, Sales, and POS systems.
  • Create BEO’s in the absence of the Sales & Catering Clerk.
  • Input and complete weekly payroll.
  • Process recognition/rewards and disciplinary actions for staff.
  • Hire and train staff.
  • Oversee on-shift training, scheduling, and overall supervision of assigned staff.
  • Provide departmental orientation for new employees and monitor their training.
  • Develop and post new schedules weekly after approval.
  • Be familiar with emergency programming procedures to keep POS System online.
  • Maintain all required records and reports.
  • Complete payment of catering events and process advance deposits and final payments.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and post event information.
  • Maintain the highest standards of service, health, sanitation, and safety.
  • Promote positive public relations, employee relations, and promotions.
  • Enforce and comply with all Federal, State, Local laws and Internal Controls.
  • Ensure Convention Center Ballroom closing duties are complete.
  • Ensure all paperwork is turned into the Sales & Catering Office.
  • Record all schedule changes on posted schedules and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Control and monitor all labor costs on each shift and help approve time in the MCR/TC Time and Attendance program.
  • Ensure timely and accurate distribution of Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s).
  • Participate in the weekly BEO meeting.
  • Perform monthly inventory counts for the FOH (alcohol, soda, dry goods).
  • Maintain FOH catering equipment, smallware, and glassware inventory.
  • Create Supervisor Reports for each shift.
  • Utilize the pass down log to communicate information to other Supervisors and staff.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
