About The Position

Riggs Washington DC is seeking a Banquet Cook Supervisor to oversee and support the preparation, production, and execution of all banquet and catered events. This role involves leading the banquet culinary team during event service, ensuring quality, consistency, and efficiency. The supervisor will also assist with daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, production schedules, and event execution, ensuring all food meets quality standards. Coordination with banquet operations and culinary leadership is key for successful event execution. The role requires monitoring food quality, portion control, presentation, and service timelines, as well as training, coaching, and mentoring team members. Additionally, the supervisor will assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, proper product storage, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Support for banquet setup, execution, and breakdown, as well as assistance with scheduling and labor management, are also essential functions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of culinary experience in a hotel, banquet, catering, or high-volume kitchen environment
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of banquet production and large-scale event execution
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen best practices
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to culinary excellence
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Flexible schedule required, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business demands

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the preparation, production, and execution of all banquet and catered events
