About The Position

Churchill Downs Inc. is seeking Banquet Staff for on-call positions at Turfway Park Racing & Gaming. This role involves providing excellent guest service in a fast-paced environment, handling food and beverages, managing transactions, and maintaining cleanliness. The position requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and the ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods. Successful candidates must be at least 21 years old and able to obtain a KHRC license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent guest service while working in a very fast-paced environment.
  • Serve food, beverages, or desserts to customers.
  • Handle cash, debit, and credit card transactions accurately.
  • Replenish foods at serving stations.
  • Prepare food using standard formulas or following directions.
  • Clean counters, tables, and other equipment.
  • Stock and restock items as necessary.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of banquet rooms, hallways, storage, and service areas.
  • Inventory and care for banquet supplies such as linens, chairs, china, glassware, flatware, and decorations.
  • Set up the banquet room per the specification of the Banquet Event Order (BEO).
  • Reset room to original state after an event has concluded or for the next event.
  • Transport tables and equipment.
  • Report maintenance issues to management.
  • Assist servers and provide requested information to guests.
  • Prepare drinks according to recipes and specifications for patrons and fulfill cocktail servers’ orders in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bar area.
  • Assist with inventory control, stocking, and proper rotation of product.
  • Prepare and sell all drinks on the menu and handle all transactions in accordance with cash handling policy.
  • Perform setup and breakdown of the bar area as well as side work and projects as necessary.
  • Adhere to sanitation and health department regulations for safe handling of alcohol.
  • Perform "responsible alcohol service" with regards to patron limitations and pass any/all responsible alcohol service training.
  • Interact and speak with guests to maintain great guest relations and provide opportunities for loyalty.
  • Provide excellent guest service to both internal and external guests.
  • Maintain current knowledge of daily menus and prices.
  • Ensure proper stock of product and supplies needed for service.
  • Set up event space according to the Banquet Event Order (BEO).
  • Serve food to guests.
  • Read, understand, and implement the listed specifications of the (BEO).
  • Prepare buffets, tables, service carts, dessert and action stations per the BEO.
  • Circulate event or designated area to provide excellent service to guests.
  • Pass hors d’oeuvres during cocktail reception.
  • Adhere to all Food and Beverage safety and quality regulations.
  • Provide excellent guest service and ensure guest satisfaction.
