Requirements

  • Three years banquet operational experience OR an equivalent level of education
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to sell concepts and ideas to management, peers, and employees
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years supervisory responsibility preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Meeting room set up standards, and different set up types
  • Experience setting up numerous banquet rooms consecutively
  • Experience ordering supplies, linens, uniforms, etc

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the management of set up aspects of the Banquet Department functions, in accordance with Hotel standards
  • Assigning duties and instructing workers in collection, assembly, and arrangement of articles for convention or banquet hall and conference rooms
  • Inspecting facilities for completeness of arrangements and instructing personnel to correct errors
  • Preparing daily work assignments roster and maintaining work performance records
  • Directing, implementing and maintaining a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff to ensure 100% guest satisfaction
  • Coaching employees how to resolve and de-escalate conflict
  • Working in conjunction with Catering Sales and Convention Services
  • Maintaining written and verbal communications with Meeting Planners and Groups
  • Following/enforcing company policies and procedures, sharing ideas to promote business; reduce employee turnover; and meet budgeted productivity
  • Providing overall direction, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of operations
  • Communicating with Stewards to insure smooth operation
  • Performing cleaning duties for banquets and conventions
  • Performing other related duties as required
