The Banquet Server at one of Oxford’s luxury or boutique-style hotels is responsible for delivering exceptional service at hotel catering functions. This role ensures guests have a seamless and enjoyable experience by setting up, serving, and breaking down events while adhering to hotel service standards. The Banquet Server plays a key role in striving to meet and exceed Four-Star service standards delivering high-quality service and amenities with strong attention to detail, ensuring excellence in every guest interaction, and consistently exceeding expectations.

Requirements

  • Food handler’s license and liquor server permits as required by state law
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends and holidays
  • Reliable and consistent attendance
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
  • Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and often exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift or otherwise move objects
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
  • Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality / Hotel Work Experience preferred
  • 1+ years Previous banquet server experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of customer service, taking time with guests to ensure every aspect of their stay is up to expectations.
  • Welcome guests with a polished and professional demeanor, providing exceptional customer service by serving food and beverages throughout the event.
  • Handle guest complaints, requests, and concerns with professionalism and discretion, using the Oxford Collection guest recovery, and service gestures consistent with Forbes service standards.
  • Review and follow Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to ensure proper room setup as specified.
  • Set up banquet spaces as directed by department leadership, including linens, tables, beverage stations, buffet equipment, service ware, and glassware, maintaining a neat and organized workspace.
  • Ensure timely delivery of food and other items to the banquet room and guest tables.
  • Assist with food and beverage service, ensuring guests are served in a warm, polite, and professional manner that strives to meet and exceed Forbes Four-Star standards.
  • Serve food and beverages in accordance with supervisor expectations, maintaining consistency throughout the banquet and anticipate guest needs, delivering personalized, luxury-level service.
  • Promptly clear dishes as guests complete each course and at the end of the meal or function.
  • Take drink orders, open wine bottles, and serve alcoholic beverages professionally, following all state and federal service guidelines.
  • Follow proper guest check and money-handling procedures for à la carte and beverage orders.
  • Perform all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety and sanitation requirements and Oxford Collection of hotels safety standards and security procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations.
  • Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to the supervisor or General Manager.
  • Complete a daily activity log with pertinent shift information for co-workers and leadership team.
  • Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shifts.
  • Perform other Hotel related duties as assigned.
