About The Position

Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests. Each server’s primary objective is to show our guest that the employee is an ambassador of Napa Valley such that the guest will feel truly at home.

Requirements

  • Five years of serving experience, two years with fine dining service.
  • Ability to become TIPS certified
  • Ability to work clean and quickly.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
  • General knowledge of wines, spirits, beverage, and food menus.
  • General knowledge of Napa Valley and surrounding areas.
  • Fluent verbal and written skills in English; ability to communicate with guests and co-workers
  • Ability to actively listen and provide clear and coherent responses to guest concerns/requests
  • Ability to communicate well with management and staff
  • Multi task
  • Knowledge of point of sale systems
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Must have excellent basic math skills and the ability to operate a POS system
  • Proficiency in cash handling procedures
  • Ability to make quick decisions during high pressure times to ensure and exceed guest expectations
  • Ability to take direction
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet guests
  • Make all our guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to personally take care of them
  • Serve guest food according to standards and procedures of Meadowood Napa Valley
  • Handle special requests
  • Answer questions about our food, beverages and other resort functions and services.
  • Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely matter
  • Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by station assignment
  • Maintain clean service areas
  • Monitor and observe guests dining experience
  • Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service
  • Respond promptly and courteously to any requests
  • Make sure supervisor or manager is aware of any guest comments or complaints
  • Prepare the final bill, ensure everything is accounted for accurately
  • Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise
  • Be ready and willing to assist with clearing and resetting tables
  • Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation.
  • Set Tables.
  • Buff and polish stemware, flatware, and china.
  • Responsible for opening/closing/side duties as set forth by Captain/Manager
  • Assist in the transportation/setup of furniture and equipment of function areas needed.
  • Attend pre-service function meeting and monthly department meeting.
  • Maintain proper care and cleanliness of serving equipment.
  • Avoid breakage and misuse.
  • Avoid damaging walls, doors and furniture when transporting equipment and furniture.
  • Make supervisor aware of guest comments/complaints.
  • Familiar with California liquor laws, being careful not to serve to intoxicated guests or minors.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures for the Wine & Cuisine department and Meadowood Napa Valley.
  • Familiar with Estate fire and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Assist in emergency and security procedures as directed by management and the established emergency plan.
  • Complete tasks and projects delegated by your Captain/Manager and assist other departments as business/staff levels demand.
