About The Position

The Banquet Houseperson is responsible for maintaining storage rooms, back halls, and meeting rooms to ensure they are clean, organized, and set up according to guest specifications. This role involves significant physical activity, including transporting and setting up/breaking down tables, chairs, and other event equipment. The position also requires adherence to cleaning schedules, health standards, and company policies, as well as assisting other banquet personnel and performing general cleaning tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.
  • Knowledge of various types of equipment and set up styles used in meeting rooms (e.g., different table types).
  • Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries and communicate simple instructions.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions for safe application of products and processes.
  • Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker.
  • Ability to lift and move multiple tables and chairs and podiums weighing up to 80 lbs. through a crowded room.
  • Considerable physical activity on a continuous basis throughout the shift for room set up and break down.

Responsibilities

  • Keeping storage rooms maintained and organized.
  • Maintaining the back hall by breaking down dirty dishes and bringing them to the dish room.
  • Picking up and putting away linen.
  • Setting up all meeting rooms to guest specifications, which includes transporting heavy materials like staging, tables, chairs, and dance floors.
  • Breaking down all meeting rooms after events and returning items to storage.
  • Maintaining the cleaning schedule for meeting rooms and ballrooms.
  • Supplying and replenishing meeting rooms with clean glasses and fresh water.
  • Communicating with the supervisor throughout the shift.
  • Performing general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to adhere to health standards.
  • Performing other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills or fulfilling special guest requests.
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Following safety and security procedures and rules.
  • Performing any related duties as requested by supervisor/manager.
  • Assisting other Banquet Personnel when needed.
