About The Position

Prepares and facilitates food preparation to support Banquet functions, creating a quality product that will surprise and delight guests. This role involves preparing food, setting up and stocking assigned food stations, ensuring food quality meets established specifications, and adhering to clean preparation standards in accordance with restaurant and health department regulations. The cook will also be responsible for placing prepared foods for service, setting up workstations, discarding spoiled food, cleaning spills, and assisting at various cooking stations as needed. The position requires flexibility to work additional hours on short notice and perform any other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years experience in high volume cooking (if no vocational training) or two years experience in high volume cooking (with specialized vocational training).
  • Must possess basic reading skills.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business.

  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time (minimum of four hours).
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency while performing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the casino; from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.
  • Must be able to lift, carry and/or push a minimum of 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, twist, turn, push, pull, grasp objects and the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, dust, loud noises and bright lights.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares food to support the Banquet function and will assist with food preparation as scheduled and/or requested.
  • Responsible for the complete set-up, stocking, and service of assigned food station using specific methods.
  • Ensure that all food products meet the established specifications.
  • Ensures that all food is prepared on clean surfaces (and with clean utensils) in accordance with restaurant and health department regulations.
  • Follows all applicable safety procedures while on the work- station.
  • Ensures the food quality meets the highest of standards.
  • Places prepared foods on plates for table-side service and in serving dishes in an eye-appealing manner for guest self-service.
  • Sets up the workstation with the supplies and utensils and prepares needed equipment for food preparation.
  • Adheres to all internal controls, policies, standards and procedures.
  • Discards spoiled food products from the station in accordance with company procedures.
  • Cleans any food spillage at the work- station.
  • Assists at various cooking stations as business demands.
  • Works additional hours on short notice as requested by management, in order to accommodate one of the following: staffing emergency, employee absence, fluctuation in business levels, special projects, etc.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.
